Why We Built Warden

We got tired of watching organizations struggle with overcomplicated NAC solutions. So we built what we wished existed.

The Honest Truth About Network Access Control

Here's something the big vendors won't tell you: most NAC deployments never use half the features they're paying for. Posture assessment? Usually disabled after the first month because of user complaints. Profiling? Running in monitor-only mode forever.

Meanwhile, the core requirement (authenticating users and devices against your network infrastructure) gets buried under layers of complexity.

We asked a simple question: what if we built something that did the essential things exceptionally well, and left out the rest?

Our Journey

How frustration with the status quo led to building something better.

The Problem

Legacy NAC Was Broken

For years, we deployed traditional NAC solutions for enterprise clients. The pattern was always the same: weeks of professional services, complex integrations, licensing that required a spreadsheet to understand, and UIs that looked like they were built before the iPhone existed.

The Realization

Most Organizations Need 20% of the Features

We noticed something interesting: despite paying for feature-packed NAC solutions, most organizations used the same core functionality. RADIUS for wireless and VPN. Maybe LDAP integration. User groups with access policies. That was it.

The Build

Modern Infrastructure, Essential Features

We built Warden from the ground up with modern infrastructure: containerized, API-first, cloud-native. But we focused only on the features that actually get used. No posture assessment. No endpoint profiling. Just solid, reliable AAA.

Today

Production-Ready and Growing

Warden is in production at enterprises and MSPs who value simplicity and reliability. We're continuously improving based on real feedback from real deployments.

What We Believe

The principles that guide how we build and how we do business.

Simplicity Over Complexity

If something can be done simply, we do it simply. Every feature earns its place by solving a real problem, not by checking a box on a feature comparison chart.

Honest Communication

We tell you what Warden does well and where it might not be the right fit. We'd rather lose a sale than have an unhappy customer.

Focus on What Matters

Network access control is our singular focus. We're not trying to be your SIEM, your endpoint protection, or your security swiss army knife.

Respect for Your Time

Deployment in minutes, not weeks. Documentation that answers questions. Support that solves problems. Your time is valuable.

Part of the NocTel Family

Built By Network People, For Network People

Warden is developed by NocTel, a company that's been solving network infrastructure challenges for years. We understand the reality of managing enterprise networks because we've done it ourselves.

This isn't a product built by security researchers in a lab. It's built by engineers who've been on the other side of the deployment, dealing with the same frustrations you face.

We're Not For Everyone (And That's Okay)

We believe in being upfront. Warden might not be the right choice if:

You need endpoint posture assessment

We don't check if endpoints have antivirus or specific configurations. If that's a requirement, you'll need a more comprehensive NAC solution.

You require device profiling

We don't fingerprint devices to determine what type they are. We focus on authenticating known users and devices.

You need 802.1X certificate provisioning

We support certificate-based auth, but we don't include a built-in PKI or certificate provisioning system.

You want a fully integrated security platform

We do AAA. That's it. If you need SIEM, SOAR, or other security capabilities, you'll integrate those separately.

For everything else (reliable RADIUS/LDAP authentication, sensible access control, and a UI that doesn't make you want to throw your laptop) we've got you covered.

Let's Have an Honest Conversation

Tell us about your environment and what you're trying to accomplish. We'll tell you if Warden is a good fit. No hard sell, no pressure.
